Genetically Engineered For Your Dining Pleasure...

Did You Know...

"The FDA is in the final stages of approving AquaBounty's genetically engineered (GE) salmon for food, despite the fact that these fish often suffer serious health problems. Outrageously, the USDA just gave $500,000 of tax-payer money to AquaBounty to develop its GE fish.

These GE salmon have been engineered to contain genes from other species to grow twice as fast as those in the wild. They frequently suffer from skeletal deformities, jaw erosions, inflammation, lesions, increased susceptibility to disease, and increased mortality, raising serious concerns about animal health and welfare, as well as environmental risks if fish escape.

Recently, the Prevention of Escapement of Genetically Altered Salmon in the United States (PEGASUS) Act was introduced in the Senate. This bill would ban the transport, sale, purchase, or possession of GE fish in interstate or foreign commerce, and would effectively make it impossible to sell GE fish in the U.S.

If you want to stop the sale of genetically altered fish, please let your Congressional representatives know that you want the Pegasus Act passed."
